About Melissa

  Melissa has been practicing law in Arkansas since 1998.   From 1997 until 2002, Melissa
worked as an attorney at Cross, Gunter, Witherspoon & Galchus, focusing primarily on
employment-related issues and litigation.  From 2002 until 2008, Melissa worked as a Staff
Attorney for Stephens Inc. and Staffmark.  In this role, she responded to issues before
administrative agencies, developed policies and related documentation, developed and
conducted workforce training, and assisted in litigation management.  She also developed the
HIPAA privacy and security programs for these companies.  

  Melissa's practice areas include employment law and benefits administration, focusing on
employment discrimination, wrongful discharge, wage and hour issues, and benefit plan
compliance.  Melissa’s experience includes advising management on maintaining a positive
work environment, training supervisors and employees on a broad range of legal issues, and
developing effective personnel systems and policies.

Melissa graduated from Ouachita Baptist University, summa cum laude, in 1995 with a B.A. in
political science as well as certification in secondary education.  In 1998, she graduated from
the UALR School of Law with High Honors.  As a law student, she served as the Notes Editor
for the UALR Law Journal, served as treasurer of Phi Alpha Delta, and participated in the
National Trial Competition.
